What discipline(s) do you participate in? Class(es)?
I race professionalHillclimb, Hare Scramble, Hard Enduro, and a little bit of motocross.
When did you begin riding and racing? At what point did you become a District 23 ARMCA member?
I got my first bike at age three, and began racing D23 events at four. That makes it 23 years already!
What is the greatest accomplishment of your riding/racing career?
That is always such a tough question as I have exceeded almost all of my expectations, but, I think at the top of the list would be earning my first AMA Pro Hillclimb title or being invited to race at The Travis Pastrana Invitational Terra Inferno Hard Enduro.
What are your goals for 2023? Beyond?
This year I am hoping to earn a few more Hillclimb championships. For beyond, I really want to progress my hard enduro riding skills and eventually finish a US Hard Enduro race.
Why do you continue to race in D23 ARMCA?
D23 racing just feels like home. The venues that we get to compete at, and the people we compete against are second to none. We have great promoters, sponsors, and variety of tracks throughout the district.
Who inspires you in racing?
People like Ryan Sipes, Josh Hill, Josh Toth, and many others who have found success through racing multiple disciplines are so fun to follow. At a more personal level, my family who I get to share the experiences and memories of racing with continue to keep me motivated to chase more.
How has motorcycling impacted your life?
Probably in too many ways to list! I think more than anything it has shown me that if you work hard and don’t stop following your passion that it will pay off and you will find success. It also keeps me motivated to learn more, try new things, and not to be afraid of failure.
What is your favorite food to eat on race day?
A good black coffee with a breakfast sandwich on a bagel is tough to beat!
How do you get pumped up to ride/race? Music? Pep talks? Maybe quiet time is more your style?
I like to stay quiet and focus - walk the track, check over my bikes, sit down and relax.
What else do you like to do for fun?
I enjoy skiing in the winter, running, cycling, and just being outside.
What advice has a fellow rider/racer given you that you follow?
My mom and dad who both used to race have always reinforced to me that the biggest part of racing is mental. Thinking and knowing you can do well is just as much a part of it as anything.
What advice do you have for other D23 ARMCA members?
Don’t give up and don’t be hard too hard on yourself when trying to improve. Growth is not linear, there are always peaks and valleys, and those valleys can very low, but the peaks are always worth the challenge! Sometimes it takes more time than you wish, but it always comes around!
Anything else you’d like to mention?
Thanks to all of the great volunteers that keep D23 such a great and successful place to race! I also have to thank my family, friends, sponsors, and fiancé Morgan for supporting this crazy passion!
