Member of the Week: Beau Engel
Written By: Jackie Riess
Beau Engel began racing motocross nearly two years ago on his KTM 50 SX Mini. Beau now competes in the 50cc Premix 7-8 and Open 4-8 classes, and enjoys hitting doubles and mastering the whoops. Inspired by Danger Boy Deegan, his father, and his personal passion for riding dirt bikes, Beau has goals of racing at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch, as well as the professional stage, in the future.
Motocross is not Beau’s only choice of motorsport, as in the winter months he competes in the National Snocross Series. Between these sports, Beau has learned how to set goals, learn from mistakes, and try his hardest not only on the track, but in life. On the night before race day, Beau falls asleep to Nitro Circus, and in the morning, he begins his day with protein pancakes, trail mix, and chats with his friends. If his day of racing goes well at Spring Creek, he and his friends celebrate with a round of Moto Misties.
With tips from his coach, Mike Evenson, Beau has been working on passing and corner speed so he can continue to work on jumping. This coaching has been influential on his riding, and Beau encourages other D23 ARMCA members to “ride hard, think positive, believe in yourself, and stay humble.”
